How to prepare for SSC CHSL 2019 in one month?

In last few articles, we have comprehensibly discussed many facts, facets, aspects and details of SSC CHSL exam. We can accomplish lots of great things in one month of our life, if we are strong-willed and determined to face any challenge. Let us know the fact that there is no secret to success, it is the ultimate result of hard-work, preparation and learning from failures. If you are preparing for this exam for one year, it is very important that you utilize the last month in most flourishing manner. It is a significant phase of your preparation to convert your preparation into success as victory is the child of preparation and determination.

So, we will now discuss the strategy to prepare each section of the SSC CHSL exam in the last four weeks (One month) of our preparation phase. We will discuss it section-wise, so let’s begin.
  1. Quantitative Ability
Before discussing anything about this topic, let us remind you that this section has a very huge syllabus. Therefore, many students rate this as the toughest section of SSC CHSL exam. To triumph it comprehensibly, you have to do study many topics. In Quantitative Ability section, there will be total 25 questions. There will be  around 10-11 questions from Arithmetic, 6-7 questions from Geometry & Trigonometry and the remaining 4-5 questions will be from Algebra. Let us discuss the strategy to target this section properly. 

Week 1
You should target Arithmetic for the first week. It will include topics like Ratio, Percentage, Averages, Time Speed Distance, Time and Work, Profit & Loss, Interest.
Week 2
In the second week, you should target Geometry and Trigonometry.
Week 3
In the third week, you should prepare Algebra (Equations), along with leftover topics like Progressions and Simplification.
Week 4
In the fourth and last week, do revise everything you have studied and sincerely take mock tests.
  1. English Language
In last few articles, we have been advising you repeatedly that you should be daily reader of English newspapers, magazines, books, novels etc to become proficient in English Language. It is because it will help you build a strong command over all aspects of English language. English Language is one of those subjects which cannot be learnt properly in short span of time. Therefore, you are advised to become daily reader, as well as remain consistent with the topics of this subject. English Language section is comprised of cloze test, sentence improvement, antonyms synonyms, fill in the blanks and other such topics. Now, let us discuss the strategy to target English Language section properly in last four week.  

Week 1
You should comprehensively go through all the grammar rules you have noted. These rules will include tenses, voice, articles, prepositions, subject verb agreement and punctuation.
Week 2
In the second week, you should do active passive voice, direct indirect speech, cloze test, error spotting, sentence improvement and grammar-based fill in the blanks.
Week 3
In the third week, you should prepare topics which require good memory skills like Antonym Synonyms, Idioms, Phrases, and Spellings etc.
Week 4
In the last and fourth week, do attempt as much as mock tests. It will be stress-reliever as well as morale booster for you. These mock tests will ease your exam pressure, if you score appreciably in them.  
  1. Reasoning Ability
In Reasoning Ability section, you are required to practice more and more to achieve perfection. Let us add, practice does not make you perfect but only perfect practice make you perfect person. In this section, concepts are not tough, as it looks, but you need to devote a good amount of practice to build good speed of answering the questions. You are advised to go with random practice of all the concepts of this section. Now, let us discuss the strategy to target this section in last four weeks.  

Week 1
In the first week, you should prepare Analogies (both numerical and verbal), Syllogisms, coding decoding,
Week 2
In the second week you should target concepts like Odd one out, Alphabetical & Numerical Series, Missing terms.
Week 3
In the third week, you should prepare concepts like Blood Relations, Direction sense, Arrangements
Week 4
In the last week, you should sincerely attempt as much as mock tests. Do it sincerely and practice it as much as you can.
  1. General Awareness
In SSC CHSL exam, General Awareness section is considered to be highly scoring but different section. This section is mainly dominated by questions based on static General Knowledge. There are few questions based on current affairs. If you have prepared this section thoroughly you an easily solve 15 to 20 questions accurately in five minutes. It can be the most scoring section in the exam, if you have prepared it well. Now, let us discuss the strategy of preparing this section in last four weeks.  
Week 1
In the first week, do prepare topics like Science, Indian Polity, and Sports.
Week 2
In the second week, do prepare topics like Geography, Economics, Books and authors.
Week 3
In the third week, do prepare topics like History, Computer Awareness.
Week 4
In the last week, do prepare the remaining topics and do the revision properly.

Strategy to attempt the Paper

It’s almost impossible to plan or design a strategy to attempt any competitive paper. But, still, we should acknowledge the fact that we are left with lesser time, where we are supposed to answer questions from various topics and subjects with maximum accurateness. If you are perplexed to plan any strategy then we have thoughtfully design a strategy for you. 

To begin with, you should always start with the topic where you feel you are comfortable or strongest. It is advisable to start with General Knowledge section, as this is the most scoring topic where you can easily solve 25 questions in a span of 7 to 8 minutes. Thereafter, you should move towards English section, do try to answer questions quickly. You should be able to solve 15 to 20 questions in a span of 10-12 minutes, if you are proficient in English Language. Do not waste your time on difficult but attempt easier questions first. 

After attempting these sections, you should move towards the remaining sections. You should pick the easiest questions from all these sections to solve. In around 25 minutes plus, you should be able to complete maximum questions from these sections with their correct answers. In the remaining 10-15 minutes, you should thoroughly revise the entire question paper with more focus on reasoning and mathematics, as they require lots of logics and conceptual knowledge.

While revising, scrutinize and examine your answers properly. Do keep in mind that this is a competitive exam where negative marking can also play spoilsport in your success, so avoid guess work in the exam.
